Nightsolo's Walkthrough - Chapter I

Chapter I

To get off the boat, hop over the railing where your friends did, then follow them. If you didn't import a save game, find a chest and loot the Diagram: Witcher's Silver Sword. This will start a quest, and will get you a better silver sword than the one you're carrying. Upon reaching town, go straight up hill though the gate to start a conversation. When you regain control of Geralt, head into the Inn and talk to your friends.

There is a Dice-playing Monk in the basement of the Inn who says something about winning a prize. This was a limiited-time promotional offer, and there is no longer a prize.

Just east of the blacksmith are two scientists named Gaspard and Farid, who want you to test a potion. If you agree, you get a Critical Effects Mutagen, and an extra line of dialog in Chapter III. This is an unmarked quest.

Progress "The Kayran" up through the point where you talk to Cedric. Return to the Inn and pick up the two Contract quests from the Notice Board. Across from the blacksmith is a dwarf bookseller who sells books on those two monsters, which is the only way to complete those quests.

If you imported a game where Thaler lived, find Bronik just west of the Inn, and he'll have some stuff for you. Do all of the other Side Quests.

For "The Rose of Rememberence," You can choose whether or not to go with Triss.
A) Going with Triss gives you the opportunity for a sex scene. If you want to have sex with Triss, tell her she needs a bath. Regardless, use Aard to open a weak wall and get a bonus to your Magic Resistance.
B) Go alone, and the cracked wall in the pool room will be accessible later, but you won't get the bonus.

I then recommend finishing the main quest "The Kayran" before "Indecent Proposal." During "The Assassins of Kings," you'll get a choice of whether to give Iorveth a sword or side with Roche. This decision only affects the state of the town when you get back: side with Iorveth and the town is killing non-humns; side with Roche and there's a party to celebrate Iorveth's capture.

Lastly, you will need to make a choice of sides between the two "At the Crossroads..." quests. Ivoreth's Path has a more interesting story, but the more convoluted town layout. Siding with Roche means siding with humans, but the camp is easier to navigate. Choosing one side locks you in with them for the rest of the game. I recommend making a "hard" save here so you can choose the other side some other time, without having to replay everything up 'till now.

If you side with the Scoi'atel, as you leave town you'll see Laredo set fire to the town. You then get the choice to save the three elven women or to chase after Laredo. If you save the women, Laredo eventually sells Flotsam to Kaedwin, who are racists and make non-human lives worse.

If you side with Roche, there are no choices, and you wind up killing Laredo.
